I always knew my husband would rise in the world. I believed he would someday inhabit the highest office in the land. I felt this even when we were newly married and he was making a mere pittance in salary. My sisters used to tease me unmercifully, but you see who was correct!

Born - January 26, 1826 in St. Louis, Missouri

Parents - Frederick Dent & Ellen Wrenshall Dent

Married - August 22, 1848 to Ulysses Simpson Grant

Children - Frederick Dent (1850 – 1912),
Ulysses Simpson (1852 – 1929),
Ellen Wrenshall “Nellie” (1855 – 1922),
Jesse Root (1858 – 1934)

Post White House residence - New York City, New York

Died - December 14, 1902 in Washington, D.C.
