I’ve never had it easy. I’ve never had time to think about things like...who I wanted to be or whom I admired, or to have ideas. I never had time to dream about being anyone else. I had to work.

Born - March 16, 1912 in Ely, Nevada

Parents - William Ryan & Katharina Halberstadt Bender Ryan

Married - June 21, 1940 to Richard Nixon

Children - Patricia “Tricia” (1946 – present),
Julie (1948 – present)

Education - Fullerton Junior College in Fullerton, California; Masters in merchandising and teacher’s certificate at University of Southern California in 1937

Occupation - High school business teacher, secretary

Firsts - 1st First Lady to wear pants in public.

Other offices - Office of Price Administration: price analyst & economic analyst

Causes - Advocated volunteer service and travelled to the People’s Republic of China, Soviet Union, Peru, Africa and South America as First Lady

Died - June 22, 1993 in Park Ridge, New Jersey
